The front tire on the Camry started loosing air over the past couple of days. Now this was the same tire that they wouldn't fix last year because the hole was kind of in the sidewall. So I put a small round patch on it and it lasted this long.

I took the tire into the same place and a young kid patched it for me and told me that someone had used a small round patch on it He said the small patch would be ok on the tread side, but the sidewall you need the big square patches. He was a very nice kid.

So have they changed their policies, come up with new patches or the local tire shop sparing the customers now?????

I won't do it....neither will the company I work for. Usually.....It won't hold or will come loose over due time. Trail spare or off road use maby.... but on a DD never.

I had a Cooper STT that I tore a 4" long gash in the sidewall 2 days after mounting it. I did a section repair on it and put it back on and got almost 30k out of it as a d.d. delivering news papers. No issues at all from it. If we could shoot all the lawyers (except for Greg Cool ) tires would never die an early death!

X2 on the Greg part, we might need to send a rescue team in after Greg. He is working too hard.

Anyway my little round patch lasted a year and I drove it back and forth from Dayton to Sidney all last year. So we'll see how the big square patch holds up.

Some of you probably remember about 2 years ago I cut the sidewall on one of my Goodyears at Haspin. My buddy Gene stuck a couple plugs in it and it is still running fine to this day, I bet I've put 15,000+ miles on it with zero problems. I think they make too much of sidewall repairs. I understand a tire shop not wanting to take responsability, but sidewall damage doesn't mean death to a tire.
