The snorkle was easy to build.
It required the following pieces:
1 long PVC pipe section (I bought 10 feet for $6)
3 45degree & 3 90degree PVC elbows - different model XJs will require different combinations to fit with air box & other under-hood components ($1.50 ea) - I used 3 45deg & one 90deg & had to remove the window washer bottle for now for it to fit.
1 small can of PVC glue ($3)
2" holesaw for drill ($?) to drill through fenders & airbox
Sawzall or hacksaw to saw PVC
1 tube of JB-weld or whatever to attach PVC pipe to airbox plastic
1 Can of Krylon Fusion Black spray paint ($4)
1 or 2 sheets of sandpaper to rough up PVC to get paint to stick well
1 (or more) 2-2.5" hose clamps & sheet metal screws to attach upper snorkle to A-pillar. ($2)
Test fit all the pieces & angles before you drill the hole in the fender, also make sure your door opens and closes with the position you want the snorkle in. You'll also have to seal up your other airbox inlets when you want the snorkle activated offroad. I do not run it full time alone as not enough air comes through it for highway driving. I cannot even see the snorkle from inside the vehicle! The best part is I saved around $300+ versus buying an ARB snorkle!!!!
I will have to find somewhere to relocate my window washer bottle soon.
